The Chanticleer Sangiovese was the first release from the 2022 vintage.  The weather in 2022 was similar to this year with hot weather at the end of the season creating concentrated flavors.  This Sangiovese has aromas of flowers, fruit and spice.  Aromas of ripe cherries and raspberries are enhanced with the essence of roses and balanced with cinnamon and clove aromas.  On the palate the fruit flavors of plum and cherry give the wine a sweet flavor that is complemented with savory notes of clove, cedar and tobacco.  The wine is smooth on your palate with lip-smacking acidity that invites you for the next sip.  The Chanticleer Sangiovese pairs well with all your delectable offerings at Christmas dinner.

The 2022 Riserva blend is a medium ruby color with initial aromas of dark cherry and plums laced with vanilla and hints of licorice, wood smoke and even root beer adding to the complex aroma. On the tongue it’s full bodied and expressive, with more plum, cherry cola, fig, clove and a bit of milk chocolate spritzed with mint. The medium tannins on the finish tell you this wine will last a while in your cellar, but if you prefer to drink it now give it a little air. Pair it with braised veal and don’t skimp on the garlic and rosemary.

The 2022 Cabernet is a bold ruby color in the glass, with an initial waft of fine leather on the nose. With more swirling the fruit aromas show up, cherry, plum, jammy currant, followed by spicy cinnamon, clove, licorice and a faint smell of hickory wood. On the palate, smooth and soft, with dark cherry, plum compote, and blueberry, all building towards a sprinkle of cocoa and moderate tannins on the lingering finish. Pair this with a traditional French beef stew.
